Dear Friends of FFN
Let me begin by thanking you all for your continued support of FFN and the Nepalese cause. I apologise for the belatedness of this newsletter.
I am happy to announce that Durham University will be bringing another student group to Nepal this Summer- making it five years in a row that Durham University has supported FFN through such expeditions. These students not only face the physical test of a 12 night trek to Annapurna Base Camp, but also the mental challenge of living and working within a Nepali community for 14 nights. Although the main purpose of the trip is a fundraising event, we hope to provide these students with an experience that they will cherish forever. This trip will not only fund 4 small-scale community projects, but also the continued funding of the Prayas- run Drop in Centre and Half Way home for street kids in Kathmandu. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for applying for the expedition and wish them good luck in their fundraising.
Additionally, I am happy to announce that Hugo Hunt will hopefully be revisiting the Himalayas with an expedition this autumn. Having successfully climbed Barunte (with a summit of over 7000 meters) two years ago in support of FFN, Hugo is now aiming to climb to 8,200 meters (above 8,000 meters is the known as the “death zone”) again in support of FFN. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for his generosity and wish him good luck in his climb.
The FFN children are progressing well at school and judging by internal feedback from Prerana seem to be developing into well-rounded individuals. Without the support of individuals such as yourselves, none of this would have been possible, and for that I am deeply grateful and thankful.
As ever, should any of you have any queries about FFN or our activities, please feel free to contact me anytime.
Thank you all for your generosity,
Take care,
Tom Wells
